I got this game on a benefic bundle I bought not knowing what were inside and this game was a surprise. Short, but very beautiful. Character designs are cute and very sweet. The animals animations are weird when you pick them, but that made the game even more awesome. Chubby characters, riding giant fat cat and ravens at home made game 100/10. Still learning how to use the clothing designs.
Hello! I played Calico here and bought it on Steam, I uploaded a video of me playing for a little bit after beating the game. I really love the atmosphere here, the colors, the options you have to play with the animals and ride them. I really love how you can change how you look with cool moving clothes. I hope to bring more attention to this game but I am just a small channel, I hope anyone who checks the video out enjoys watching it. (:
Short but definitely sweet! I was so excited to see a new update - I bought the game on Steam, originally, and couldn't put it down for the hours of cute, adorable, and cozy play it gave me. My favorite thing is being able to ride the gigantic cat across the map. Definitely one of my favorites to come back to as a comfort game.
If you want to start a new game, such as to experience the magic of Calico from the beginning with the Pawsome Update, you need to delete your save file, which is going to be hidden away as follows for Windows 10:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Peachy Keen Games
Once you're in the folder for your windows username, you'll need to select "View" from the menu on the top and put a check on hidden items.
Once you see the Calico folder in the AppData area, you can just delete the whole folder as the game will make a new one once you launch it again.
A really beloved game. It's short, and I would love the NPCs to have more depth and lines, but for what it is it is absolutely charming and a really good way to spend a handful of hours. Especially joy sparking is the body and gender diversity among the NPCs (and likewise, for the player character model). The kitties are cute, the music is an absolute dream, and the game-hacking potions are very fun for when you've done the main quests.
This is what I've always wanted in a sim game without realizing it (i.e., having a million pets and being shrunken down so I can bake). The animation isn't always smooth, but I give this game 11/10. Love it. Thank you for making this!
The cutest, most cozy game I've ever played (and I've played a number of cozy games as it is my favorite way to wind down and relax). My son (6yo) and I (33yo) both play it and just love it. The characters were perfect. I loved the inclusivity not only of LGBTQ+ and POC but also of body size. As a fat femme enby, I was so happy for a chance to make a character like me and see them move around in the world. I personally loved the distance between things and wandering around, looking at the forest and coast, listening to the lo-fi music. It was so relaxing. I even made up stories in my head about the characters (mine and Ash are dating and Xin and Lily and I are using herbs, flowers, and mushrooms in new recipes). I don't know if there are any plants to update the game with more quests and stories after the giant cat fiasco but I really hope so. I would love to continue in this world a little more. Thank you for such an amazing game.
Calico is extremely cute, with lots of customization, nice furnishing, fun miscellaneous items, and art. The world is real pretty as well! I got it in a bundle once, and I'm happy I got to play it for a nice relaxing and cozy evening. It could use a bit more polish, and all the running around the emptiness of the forest got a bit tedious at times, but overall I enjoyed the experience <3
It's a really cute game, however, it's full of empty worthless spaces between point A and B, and the missions are just "go from here to there" so most of the time you're just walking. Nevertheless, the art direction is beautiful, it's a real shame such a cute game have this issue
If you're not sure what platform to get this game on, I want to share that this game works on the Steam Deck. My husband fired up this game on his account to let me get a feel of both the game and the Deck, which he received in Spring this year.
This game is saccharine and definitely one that has its audience that I can see being very happy with the game, but I'm afraid I'm just not one of them (I'm more a salty-sweet over syrupy). I found myself lost and confused before long, and that I felt the magic only really existed to explain away why there was a distinct lack of conflict. Again, this might be fine for some people, but to me, it felt like a missed opportunity. Why not incorporate magic into the wares of the cafe or make it something that you have to overcome to make the cafe better?
I didn't enjoy the way that recipes are made (shrinking your character and running across the worktop throwing entire bags of ingredients into the mixing bowl, which prompts the food to appear and you place it in the display case) and this was not helped by the fact that if you accidentally throw the ingredients over the counter, they do not respawn, and there was no instruction as to how to leave part way, so I felt stuck for a while. I overall preferred the cooking processes of Little Dragons Cafe, where you have to find ingredients (with the quality improving as the game progressed), at least one group (fruit, vegetables, meat, etc.) have flavour profiles that affect the final product, and a mini game affects the final quality. All of these affecting the reviews from the customers.
I also admit that I was not a big fan of the character art style. This is just a minor nitpick and a matter of personal taste, but it didn't help my diminished enjoyment.
None of this is to say that the game is terrible, I could see the heart in it, it just lacked the kind of hooks that get me invested in sim type games. My husband was genuinely surprised when I said I wasn't a fan since I adore cats and baking IRL, until I compared the cooking mechanics between this game and Little Dragons Cafe.
Really cuuuuuuuuuuuuute. It's not the most polished and the gameplay time isn't very long, but it was really fun, I enjoyed the style and the NPCs, and the cooking minigame was bizarre but wonderful. I would love if you could date the npcs / have more interactions with them, but it's a charming game for what it is and the running animations get me every time.
this game was super cute and I loved it. I enjoy the relaxed, casual atmosphere that lets you go at your own pace without consequences. I also love the variety of animals you can meet and play with. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to add more to the baking mini-game mechanic. Maybe something like people being able to order foods you don't currently have on display so you can make them on the spot? In any case, I enjoyed being a tiny human chucking giant flour bags into a bowl taller than my head, so any way to expand on that would be fun in my opinion.

Hi, I love this game. I'd like to have a girlfriend in the game. Maybe you can add this feature in future. The game is very romantic and I like it.
6/5 stars. Needs possum though.
